Glamping with your dog in a Villatent

Glamping with your dog is not only fun, but it’s also convenient. Not every dog likes staying in a dog kennel, and most dog owners don’t feel comfortable leaving their four-footed friend behind. So why not take your furry buddy with you on holiday? In a Villatent, both you and your pets can enjoy a luxury holiday. Dogs are welcome in almost all our safari tents. However, there are a couple of things to bear in mind if you want to make a glamping holiday with your dog a success. We will be happy to provide you with some tips to get your glamping adventure off to a flying start! 

Glamping with your dog: practical tips 

Is your dog coming with you to your glamping holiday destination? Then you will need to pay a small additional fee of €5 per day. The Villatents are not equipped with facilities for dogs. You need to take everything with you, including a pillow, leash, dog food, food and water bowls and poop bags. For some countries, additional import restrictions apply such as vaccinations or a blood test. You can find a list of requirements on the Landelijk Informatiecentrum Gezelschapsdieren (LICG, or Dutch Pet Information Centre) website. If you’re going abroad with your pet, it is also essential to make sure that your pet is microchipped. Check to see whether your dog’s microchip is linked to the correct owner, so you can always be traced as the owner.

Travelling to your holiday destination

Some dogs will sleep the entire way to your holiday destination, while others are not so fond of travelling by car. Does your dog suffer from motion sickness? Medication is available from the veterinarian. This makes the journey for both you and your pet a lot more pleasant. Are you planning on travelling far? Prepare your dog beforehand for long-distance car travel. Make sure your dog has a cool spot during the trip. Take regular breaks to take your dog for a walk and let them drink. With these tips, you and your pet are all set for your safari tent holiday in Europe!

For a fine glamping holiday with your dog, we recommend getting yourself acquainted with what is and isn’t allowed on the campsite. Of course, a dog is not allowed to simply run free over the campsite. Other holidaymakers should not be inconvenienced by your dog. Each campsite has its own rules about leashing and walking your dog. These rules can be found on the campsite’s website. You will find our campsites at breath-taking locations in Spain, Italy, Croatia, France, and the Netherlands. TIP: select a glampsite by a lake or river if your dog loves to swim and splash around!
