Perfect base to explore Tuscany
Camping La Chiocciola is situated in beautiful Tuscany and is the perfect base from which to explore this enchanting region. This campsite offers the perfect blend of relaxation and nature. You can enjoy three swimming pools: two larger ones and a paddling pool. For the children, there’s a playground with a slide, a swing and a climbing frame. After all the fun, you can enjoy a typical Tuscan dish at the restaurant next to the campsite. In high season, you can also pop into the bar for a snack or pop into the shop for a few bits and bobs.
- Three lovely swimming pools: The pool complex consists of two large pools measuring 33 and 25 metres, and a separate paddling pool with varying depths. The pool is also open to visitors from outside the campsite, which means it can get quite busy here, especially in high season. A major advantage: unlike many other Italian swimming pools, swimming caps are not compulsory.

Camping La Chiocciola is located in the heart of Tuscany, surrounded by the beautiful Valdambra and the rolling hills of the Chianti region. This area is known for its picturesque landscapes, historic towns, and world-famous wines. The surroundings offer many opportunities for excursions, cultural discoveries, and culinary experiences. In the nearby village of Bucine, just 5 km away, you will find supermarkets, bakeries, and cozy cafés.
For a city trip, you can visit:
- Arezzo (30 km): A charming town known for its medieval architecture and antique markets. Visit the cathedral on the hill and admire the frescoes by Piero della Francesca in the Basilica of San Francesco.
- Siena (40 km): Famous for the medieval Piazza del Campo and the annual Palio horse race.
- Florence (60 km): The Renaissance capital with world-famous attractions such as the Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio, and the Galleria degli Uffizi.
Other recommendations include the picturesque villages of Montepulciano, San Gimignano, and Pienza, all within about an hour's drive. Here you can taste local wines, discover traditional dishes, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Tuscan landscape.
For nature lovers, there are beautiful walking and cycling routes through Valdambra and the Chianti region, where you can explore historical castles, olive groves, and vineyards.
The campsite is open from 1 April until 30 September 2026.

Entertainment is available in July and August.
The swimming pool is expected to open at the end of May, weather permitting, and will be open daily from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. The pool bar is expected to open in early June, subject to weather conditions, and will be open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.
The Antico Portale restaurant is open year-round for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar, trattoria, pizzeria and minimarket are also open year-round.

At Camping La Chiocciola, you can check in from 16:00. On the day of departure, you must check out by 10:00.
Camping La Chiocciola is located in Capannole, in the heart of Tuscany, and is easily accessible by both car and airplane.
By Car
From Utrecht, it takes approximately 15 hours to drive to Camping La Chiocciola, covering a distance of about 1,400 km. The campsite is near the A1 highway, heading towards Florence and then towards Arezzo. The Italian highways are well-maintained, providing a comfortable journey through the Tuscan landscape.
By Plane
The nearest airport is Florence Airport (Aeroporto di Firenze-Peretola), which is about 70 kilometers from the campsite. From there, you can drive to the campsite in less than an hour by rental car or taxi.
